The Power of Empowerment
Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work for two very well known fitness chains. While they both had very different business plans, I quickly realized they both used people's fears, doubts and insecurities to sell gym memberships. This deeply disturbed me because even at seventeen, I knew the transformational magic that was present in empowering a person. This is what inspired the concept of Trainer Joe's, to create a safe place where someone could be empowered without the mental marketing games that usually goes along with the health and fitness industry. Even until this day, this is the reason why I do what I do, to see improvements in a person not just physically, but emotionally, mentally and dare I say spiritually as well. I honestly feel that when someone carries with them the knowledge that we present to them, we help create a better world. There is much that can be said about achieving something that you thought impossible just a few weeks ago. Whether it's doing a squat on an upside Bosu ball or being able to lift your grandchild with ease. It is extremely beneficial to push ones beliefs of what is possible, and we challenge everyone who comes into our building to do just that. Media has bombarded you with all sorts of body shaming and self doubt tactics. They have gone to great lengths to make you feel insecure without whatever they are trying to sell you. I am here to say that there is nothing wrong with you, and you are beautiful from whatever age or body type you're viewing this from. I do not believe that your health and fitness quest should continue because you hate yourself. Rather your health and fitness journey should continue because you love yourself and you deserve to feel and look your best at all times as defined by your own standards. I always say to people when they first come in to see me, it is not my job to tell you what you should want to look like, it is my job to help you to get to wherever it is that you decide to go. All that being said, the only sentiment I want you to take away from these words is, do not let anything or anyone make you feel inadequate. Allow all things to motivate and inspire you to be your best. You are a wonderful walking miracle capable of unthinkable things, you just have to let it out. Now, let that sink in and only walk with your head held high from this point forward. Remember, an insecure brain makes irrational actions and is more susceptible to fall for negative influence, but a confident mind seems to have the midas touch and never waivers from its goals. PS If you know someone who needs to hear this, please send it to them. - Trainer Joe TRAINER JOES BLOG
